Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or voice control.

What we aim for

We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. In practice this means:

• Text and controls meet colour-contrast requirements.
• Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a “skip to main content” link.
• Pages use proper headings, landmarks and labels, and declare their language, including on English-only articles shown in the Swahili and Luganda versions.
• Animations are reduced or removed when your device asks for reduced motion.
• Text can be enlarged to 200% without losing content.

Known limitations

• Articles and legal pages are currently available in English only.
• The optional Google map is provided by a third party, and its accessibility is outside our control. The address is always given as text.
